The Grounded Swift

swift bird first aid, save swift birds, swifts

A grounded swift always needs help and rapid action will provide the best chance for survival. Below are actions to take if you find a grounded swift. Don't throw it in the air. Don't feed it - Don't delay!

  • Place the swift in ventilated cardboard box - a shoe box lined with paper towels is ideal.

  • Bring the swift into a quiet warm, safe and calm environment away from pets and children without disturbances.

  • Don't try and care for the Swift yourself. It is high-risk, difficult and expensive! Please contact a specialist in your area from the list below!

A healthy swift(one of our rescued and rehabilitated) is

perfectly capable of taking to airborne, alone, you do not need to throw one in the air, ever!!

This is why when you see a grounded swift, it will always need to be rescued and taken to a swift specialist for a full check up.
